Today, our Unity Bargaining Team met with employers for the first time. We came with proposals developed in meetings beforehand, having reviewed survey results and after much discussion with our fellow members. As in the past, we came ready to bargain together on day one. Your employers did not.
In the past, we have done multi-employer bargaining with Fred Meyer, Albertsons, Safeway, and QFC which means they bargain as one group. Instead, your employers have exercised their right to not bargain together. As a result, we will be scheduling meeting dates and times to meet with each employer individually.
We remain committed to our collective goal of achieving a contract that improves lives. Our goals include strong wage increases for all areas and positions, stronger contract language, and a safer working environment.
As we proceed with negotiations, watch your union bulletin board, your email, Facebook, Twitter, and ufcw555.org for more information. You can also reach out to your Union Representative, Shop Steward, or Bargaining Team member on how to get involved.
