Jeff Stephenson: Union Member, Fundraiser Extraordinaire, Special Olympics Athlete

Dedication might not be a strong enough word to describe Jeff Stephenson, courtesy clerk at Happy Valley Fred Meyer. An eight-year participant in Special Olympics of Oregon, Jeff is active in snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and golf. His dedication to fundraising has earned him the title of ‘solid gold supporter’ from Kay Holzweissig, Local Program Coordinator for the organization.

She says, “He is quick to offer up his services to help at any and all of our fundraisers…from our efforts at a car wash for our local program to assisting at our biggest fundraising event, the annual Polar Plunge (on February 22nd this year)…and his dedication to help keep the donations coming in cannot be minimized.”

Staff at Local 555 describe Jeff as kind and emotionally generous, considerate, diligent about both his work and details in his contract, and passionate about advocacy and connection to his union. We are a better Union because of passionate members like Jeff.

The 2020 Polar Plunge will be held February 22nd, with a 5/10k starting at 8 a.m. and the plunge starting at 11. The event will be held at Broughton Beach Park. Registration and donation information can be found at
