The conversation with your employer was productive and we made progress toward one of our main issues that your committee identified which was the mobility of clerks around the store. The goal is to come to a mutual agreement benefiting your work life and addressing the staffing concerns of the employer, while maximizing hours wherever we can and still maintaining a predictable schedule.
Your Negotiations Committee remains committed to our end goal of a contract with stronger language that will help better the lives of the working families of UFCW Local 555. Contract language is equally important when compared to wages, as it provides the protections you need to ensure a fair workplace and access to the hours that feed your families.
We next meet with the employer representatives for Safeway and Albertsons on October 27th and 28th.
