UFCW Local 555 has New Bargaining Dates and Warns Kaiser Patients to be Careful

UFCW Local 555 has New Bargaining Dates and Warns Kaiser Patients to be Careful. UFCW Local 555 has secured additional bargaining dates with Kaiser to bargain for both Pharmacy and Imaging on 10/11, 10/12, and 10/16. Meanwhile, Kaiser patients report dangerous prescription mix ups.

Oregon & SW Washington – With the 21 day ULP strike in full swing, UFCW Local 555 has secured additional bargaining dates with Kaiser to bargain for both Pharmacy and Imaging on 10/11, 10/12, and 10/16. We expect Kaiser to stop their illegal actions of violating the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) and begin to have serious discussions about understaffing and wages.

“Management seems to think our members working in the pharmacy are easily replaced. However, we know how vital they are in getting prescriptions out quickly and accurately and no replacement worker or manager can simply step in and succeed without them. Our members are determined to hold the line and show Kaiser we will do what it takes to get Kaiser to follow the law and respect our profession.” – Dan Clay, President, UFCW Local 555.

UFCW Local 555 is also warning Kaiser Patients to double check their Prescriptions.

“Given the number of trained union pharmacy technicians on ULP strike, we have heard of prescription mix ups. One of our own members tried to fill a prescription for medicated eye drops and was given ear drops instead. Had she not double checked her medication, she could have wound up with permanent damage to her eyes. Local 555 is encouraging the public to make sure their prescriptions are correct. Kaiser’s lackluster replacement staff does not seem up to the challenge and we don’t want the mistakes they are making to damage patients’ health.” – Miles Eshaia, Communications Coordinator, UFCW Local 555.
