Bargaining Update - Unity Retail: Fully Recommended Tentative Agreements Reached for Safeway, Albertsons, Carrs, Rosauers, & Sherms

UFCW Local 555 is excited to announce that fully recommended tentative agreements have been reached for all grocery and meat contracts with Albertsons, Safeway, Rosauers and Sherms in Oregon and Southwestern Washington. Meetings will be scheduled to address the warehouse portions of our Sherms contracts in the coming weeks. Additionally, UFCW Local 1496 has secured fully recommended tentative agreements for all Safeway and Carrs contracts in Alaska.

These agreements reflect the dedication and hard work of our bargaining committees in securing a fair contract that honors members’ contributions. They mark a significant win for union members and their families by delivering substantial wage increases, preserving affordable healthcare, and guaranteeing an industry-leading pension for retirement. Together, these improvements acknowledge the critical role that union grocery workers play in their communities and demonstrate the strength of their unified voice.

In the coming weeks, both UFCW Locals will provide additional details on the agreements and voting process. Members will have the chance to review the full agreement and consult with union representatives and stewards with any questions before voting. Both UFCW Locals and the employers are fully recommending the offers and encouraging a YES vote.

We extend our gratitude to all UFCW Local 555 and Local 1496 members for your patience and unwavering commitment. Your solidarity has made this achievement possible.

Additionally, UFCW Local 555 will approach our continued Idaho area bargaining with the same determination as we have in these negotiations. We expect Albertsons to address and resolve the needed improvements to our contracts in Idaho. We will be sharing our next bargaining dates for the Idaho area in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your Union Representative.
