Bargaining Update - Bay Area Hospital: Bargaining Opens with Tentative Agreements on Key Areas

On Wednesday, March 12, and Thursday, March 13, your Bargaining Committee began bargaining your Union contract for all members working at Bay Area hospital.

During our first session we made some positive steps forward. We’ve achieved Tentative Agreements on some key areas, including:

  • Improving and cleaning up language regarding Leaves of Absence, recognizing the need for personal time.
  • Strengthening protections in relation to Discipline and Discharge, ensuring fair treatment.
  • Clarifying Hours of Work and Overtime, valuing your time and effort.
  • Updating the Staffing Committees language, giving you a greater role in patient care.
  • Cleaning up the Bereavement Leave, for when you need to take care of those close to you most.

We have several other proposals that the hospital is working on to provide a response. Your bargaining committee is committed to negotiating a contract that honors the dignity of the work you do and values your contribution to patient care at Bay Area Hospital.

Union members at Bay Area Hospital are the Southern Oregon Coast community’s lifeline. You are the backbone of our healthcare system, the ones who deliver compassionate care day in and day out. Your labor powers this hospital, and your collective strength powers this union. Management needs to understand that they’re not negotiating with individuals, they’re negotiating with a united workforce that demands respect and fair treatment. A strong contract isn’t just about individual benefits; it’s about upholding the standards for all workers in our community and fighting back against bad decisions that threaten the very fabric of our healthcare. Your Bargaining Committee is determined to negotiate a contract that honors the vital role you play in providing quality care to our community.

Our next bargaining sessions are scheduled for March 19 and March 20. We will update you after the completion of our next bargaining session.
